Come celebrate the Holiday Season by supporting your Los Angeles Dance Community by attending Degas Dance Studio’s performances of the Nutcracker. They will be perofrming at Agoura Performing Arts Education Center on Deccember 7th at 5pm and the 8th at 1pm. Feel free to bring the whole family to share and enjoy this wonderful holiday tradition and celebration of local arts and culture. Degas Dance Studio will be featuring Chasen Greenwood as the Prince. Chasen is Ballerinas of Los Angeles’ Resident Choreographer as well as a company member with Barak Ballet. He has been on national tours of Newsies, Oliver, The Music Man, and West Side Story. Degas Dance Studio will also be featuring Danielle Towne on stilts as Mother Ginger. Danielle has performed with an extensive background with the famed Britney Spears and Lady Gaga. You may have also seen her on television on Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance.
Exceptional pre-professional students, including, National Young Arts Winner Savea Kagan as Sugar Plum and Doll, San Francisco Scholarship recipient Bruno Koskoff as The Cavalier, Alvin Ailey Scholarship recipient DuJan Foley as Drosselmyer and ABT Summer Intensive Repertoire Soloist Makenna Friedman as Clara bring youthful energy to the stage, along with additional pre-professional academy and student performers.
The Nutcracker features choreography by; Jennifer Currier (Classical Ballet Director/ABT certified instructor), Anacia Weiskittel (Artistic Director/Owner of Degas Dance Studio), Nancy Dobbs Owen (Director/Choreographer and AMDA faculty member) and Alexis Weisbrot (trained with UArts, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago) with stage combat designed by Charles Currier (AMDA faculty).
Many of the beautiful costumes are custom hand made by Yolanda Jamison (Sewcontagious) and magical digital backdrops were created by Emmy Nominated Creative Director Ken Carlson.
